Siuslaw River, Mapleton Dock
The Mapleton Dock, managed by the Port of Siuslaw, serves as a historical and strategic launch site on the Siuslaw River for recreational and commercial use. Located at the river's highest navigable point for larger vessels, this area once acted as a critical industrial terminus where "mosquito fleet" steamboats and ferries transported timber, mail, and passengers before modern highways existed. Today, this launch site is particularly favored by anglers during the peak September-to-November salmon runs and by paddlers seeking the river's calm, tidally influenced flatwaters that remain more sheltered from coastal winds than downstream reaches near Florence.

While our "Map and Launch Sites" tab provides basic locations, SWT offers deeper insights into whether the site is open, launch type, tidal, cellular signal availability, fee, if a pass is accepted, and amenities.

Registration is required to access the platform. SWT was developed by FOAK member Annette Chihorek and is free to use, though some premium features are available for a fee.
